The Mount Pleasant Police Department employs 147 sworn officers and 43 civilian personnel, serving a population of 62,000 and encompassing 73 square miles. The Police Department has adopted the Community Oriented Policing philosophy of service delivery, which requires officers to work together with citizens to identify community problems, determine the underlying cause, and develop solutions which address these causes in order to resolve the problem.
